Berntsen Nominated to McDonald's Team

If selected to compete in the girls game, Chathamites can watch Berntsen on ESPNU.

senior Amanda Berntsen was one of 18 tri-state high school student-athletes nominated for the 2012 McDonald's All American High School basketball games.

Principals, coaches, athletic directors and members of the All American Games Selection Committee nominated a total of over 600 names for the boys and girls teams. Eighteen players were nominated from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, including Berntsen.

A final roster of 24 names for the boys and girls teams will be announced Feb. 9 at 5 p.m. on ESPNU. Those selected will play in the 11th Annual McDonald’s All American Girls Game and the 35th Annual McDonald’s All American Boys Game at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Central Time, respectively, and will be broadcast live from Chicago's United Center.

The boys game will be broadcast on ESPN, and the girls game will be broadcast on ESPNU. Ticket information is available at Ticketmaster. Proceeds from the games will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana.

Berntsen currently holds the record for most all-time career points among Chatham High basketball players since she broke Julia Berger's record of 1,475 on Jan. 5. She achieved this milestone
