VIDEO: Students Ready for Walk To School Week

Schools offer special incentives for students who walk or bike to school.

Students in the Chathams have taken it upon themselves to encourage their classmates to .

Drew Moore and Luke Malanga, students at , made this video, Malanga said, "in an effort to spread the word about Walk to School Week."

At , the Parent-Teacher Organization will give coupons for free sandwiches to anyone who rides a bicycle to school Monday through Friday, and the freshman physical education classes will receive lessons in bicycle safety. A lunchtime workshop by will teach bicycle safety and skills.

The YouTube video was shown during the morning announcements at Chatham Middle School this week.

Chatham Township Committee Member Kathy Abbott sits on the Safe Routes to School Committee, which is organizing Walk and Bike to School Week. The committee is working to promote awareness of pedestrian safety and the law which requires drivers to stop for pedestrians anywhere in crosswalks.
