Victories and Ties for Chatham Sports

On Thursday:

• The 3-1 in Chatham
• Girls soccer team tied Pequannock 3-3 in Pequannock
• Girls' tennis team defeated Parsippany 4-1 in Parsippany

The following games are scheduled for Friday, but are subject to change based on field availability and condition:

• Girls field hockey vs. Newton High, Haas Field, 4 p.m.
• Girls varsity vs. Caldwell High at Caldwell, 4 p.m.

Wondering what state tournament group your favorite sport is assigned to?

• Soccer, tennis, basketball, baseball and softball: North 2, Group III.
• Cross country, football, field hockey, bowling, wrestling, golf: North 2, Group II
• Volleyball: South Group II.

The following winter sports begin practicing on Nov. 15:

• Ice Hockey
• Swimming
• Bowling

These winter sports begin the Monday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 28):

• Basketball
• Wrestling
• Indoor Track
• Fencing

Spring sports begin on the first Friday of March in 2012.

The NJSIAA posted the grouping for the general classification sports. Chatham is once again assigned to North Section 2, Group 3.
