Students Pledge Respect in Outdoor Artwork
Chatham Middle School students were delayed in their project, originally intended for the Week of Respect earlier this month, because of weather.
Chatham Middle School (CMS) Assistant Principal Robert Gardella and Physical Education instructors led students in an outdoor art project Tuesday, in which students pledged mutual respect and acceptance to each other.
The project was originally planned for the week of Oct. 1, which was the state-wide . Rain and other inclement weather delayed the project, however, and Gardella was forced to wait.
It was all sunshine on Tuesday, though, as students used their P.E. classes to draw and color in the words "Respect," "Character" and "Acceptance" in the traffic oval in front of Chatham Middle School.

Gardella also had two cameras placed on the school roof to track progress throughout the day. He said he and other staff members will create a video of the project for students to view.
