School District Advertises for Athletic Director

Board of Education President declined to comment.

According to the advertisement, the anticipated vacancy date is July 1.

The current athletic director, Alexis Korsak, was unanimously approved by the on Sept. 19, 2011. She was selected from more than 90 candidates for the role and received the unanimous endorsement of the Personnel Committee.

At the board meeting on Monday, April 16, Board Member John Nonnenmacher referred to "issues" with Korsak that he attributed to "growing pains."

"There seems to be an issue with scheduling, communication and field assignments with respect to current athletic activities, and there seems to be some problems with communication regarding summer programs, summer camps," he said.

Nonnenmacher said he advised the Recreation Department to meet with Korsak to improve these areas, and he hoped to have a resolution by the next meeting.

Korsak took over the athletic department after the , who held the position since 1997. She started in the role in January.

At the time Korsak was approved as Chatham High's athletic director, Board President Thomas K. Belding said she "was selected because of her clear passion for kids, and her appreciation for the role of physical fitness and athletics in education."

Before starting in Chatham, Korsak worked for eight years at Roxbury High School. Her last role there was as assistant principal and the athletic director.

Korsak earned her bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education from Glassboro State College and a education master's and doctorate in Sports Administration from Temple University. She has also taken classes at Nova Southeastern University since 2008.

Belding declined to comment on the job posting. He said there "may be an update on that" at the next meeting. Korsak also declined to comment.

The board meets for their 2012-13 reorganization meeting on Monday at the .
