Parents Invited to 'Inspiring' Rachel's Challenge Presentation

Chatham PTO, Character Ed Committee and MACC combined efforts for program.

The Chatham PTO, Chatham Character Education Committee, and the Municipal Alliance Committee of the Chathams (MACC) are bringing Rachel's Challenge to the parent community 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Chatham Middle School auditorium.

Based on the writings of Rachel Scott, the first student killed during the Columbine High School shooting, the program will focus on strategies to combat bullying and create a culture of kindness and compassion.

Scott's kind and compassionate words were found in her journals after her death, and inspired the Rachel's Challenge program.

"Her shining example of kindness and compassion was not defeated that day," an announcement for the event says. "Come hear the inspiring true story of Rachel's dream being fulfilled over a decade after her death. The presentation is a powerful reminder of the little things we can do everyday to make our world a better place."
