Marching Band Wins Scholastic Band Competition

The music boosters have a fruit sale on through Nov. 1 to support the band.

The following information is taken from a statement by Jill Weber, the liaison between the Board of Education and the Chatham Music and Theater Boosters:

The marching band from finished first out of 13 competitors in the U.S. Scholastic Band Association (USSBA) Group 3 Open Saturday in South Brunswick.

The Cougars won with a score of 78.3, besting the second-place winner, Linden High School, by six points. They also won three of six caption awards:

Over 700 high schools compete in the USSBA, divided into 18 classes based on size and talent.

The band next competes at the MetLife Stadium at the Meadowlands on Oct. 15.

Support the Boosters, Support the Band

The Chatham Music and Theater Boosters sold gloves, flip-flops and magnets at Cougar Weekend and Back to School nights at Chatham High, and .

The boosters are currently sponsoring a fruit sale to support the band. Anyone interested in supporting the band can purchase crates of grapefruits and oranges through Nov. 1 to supplement the Marching Band's budget.

A Look at Taste of Chatham

Attendees at the Taste of Chatham will have more than food to look forward to. The Chatham High Pops Orchestra, the student-run a cappella group Snaps and a pianist will entertain the diners at the Chatham Education Foundation fundraiser on Oct. 24 at the Brooklake Country Club in Florham Park.
