'Guiding Principles' for Schools to be Introduced

Board of Education will vote on whether to approve the principles, as well as personnel matters and various donations.

Superintendent Dr. Michael LaSusa will introduce guiding principles for the School District of the Chathams at Monday's Board of Education meeting.

"The guiding principles are similar to a set of mission or belief statements about the school district. We developed them over time through the administration and board," LaSusa said.

A list of the principles was not immediately available, but the agenda shows they will be recommended by the Policy and Planning Committee.

There are also several donations up for approval by the Board of Education Monday, including a donation of $350 from the Southern Boulevard PTO for materials for grade 1 teachers, and a grant of $9,942 from the Chatham Education Foundation for a digital piano, math and vocabulary materials and three document cameras, all for Southern Boulveard.

First Choice Loan Services will also donate $2,500 for the Tech Club at Chatham High, if the board approves the donation.

The Board of Education meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Chatham Township Municipal Building. A full copy of the agenda can be found attached to this article.
