Girls Field Hockey Falls to Madison in OT

The girls tennis team walked away with a 5-0 victory over Hanover Park in Chatham Wednesday.

Also Wednesday, the girls volleyball team defeated Morris Catholic High School 2-0 Wednesday in Denville. The sets finished 25-16 and 25-16.

The girls field hockey team fell to Madison 2-1 in overtime Wednesday at Haas Field.

The following games are scheduled for Thursday:

• Boys soccer takes on Pequannock High School at Cougar Field at 4 p.m.
• Boys JV soccer takes on Pequannock High at Cougar Field at 4 p.m.
• Girls soccer plays against Pequannock High in an away 4 p.m. Transport leaves at 2:50 p.m.
• Girls JV soccer travels with the varsity team to play against Pequannock High in an away game at 4 p.m.
• Girls tennis travels to Parsippany for a 4 p.m. game. Transport leaves at 2:50 p.m.
• Girls JV takes on Parsippany High at the Colony Tennis Courts at 4 p.m.

Schedules and sites may change due to weather, field conditions, and availability.  Please check the web site in the afternoon.

Wondering what state tournament group your favorite sport is assigned to?

• Soccer, tennis, basketball, baseball and softball: North 2, Group III.
• Cross country, football, field hockey, bowling, wrestling, golf: North 2, Group II
• Volleyball: South Group II.

The following winter sports begin practicing on Nov. 15:

• Ice Hockey
• Swimming
• Bowling

These winter sports begin the Monday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 28):

• Basketball
• Wrestling
• Indoor Track
• Fencing

Spring sports begin on the first Friday of March in 2012.

The NJSIAA posted the grouping for the general classification sports. Chatham is once again assigned to North Section 2, Group 3.
