Field Hockey Loses First Game to West Essex

Next chance for glory is against Summit on Saturday.

The girls varsity field hockey team lost to West Essex in their season opener Thursday 5-1 at home.

On Friday:

  • Boys JV soccer plays Dover in an away game at 4 p.m. Transport leave Chatham High at 2:50 p.m.
  • Girls varsity soccer plays Dover in a home game at Haas Field at 4 p.m.
  • Girls JV soccer plays Dover at the lower field at Haas Field beginning at 4 p.m.
  • Girls varsity tennis plays Whippany Park High School at 4 p.m. in an away game. Transport leaves Chatham High at 2:50 p.m.
  • Girls JV tennis plays Morristown-Beard Middle School at the Colony Tennis Courts at 4 p.m.
  • Boys football plays Hackettstown High School in an away game at 7 p.m. Transport leaves at 3 p.m.

On Saturday:

  • Girls varsity field hockey plays Summit Public at Summit High School at 3 p.m. Transport leaves at 2 p.m.
  • Boys varsity soccer plays Dover High School in an away game at 3 p.m.

The weight room at Chatham High School will open Monday at 2:45 p.m.

The NJSIAA has posted the grouping for the general classification sports. Chatham is once again in North Section 2, Group III.

The Chatham Athletic Booster Club next meets on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Media Center at .

The Chatham Athletic Foundation's 2011 Fall Gala will be held on Friday, Sept. 16 at the Madison Hotel.

  • Soccer, tennis, basketball, baseball and softball: North 2, Group III.
  • Cross country, football, field hockey, bowling, wrestling, golf: North 2, Group II
  • Volleyball: South Group II.

For planning purposes, ice hockey, swimming and bowling begin practices on Nov. 15, 2011. Basketball, wrestling, indoor track and fencing begin on Nov. 28. Spring sports begin March 2, 2012.

Fall sports for the 2012-13 season will begin on Aug. 15, 2012, for fall sports, Nov. 15, 2012 for winter sports and the first Friday in March 2013 for spring sports.
