Family Fun at Southern Boulevard

Parents and children came to play games and enjoy the atmosphere at the school on Friday night.

What did you do last Friday night?

Southern Boulevard kindergarten and first grade parents and their families enjoyed a "Family Fun Night" in the school sponsored by its Parent Teacher Organization and run by many parent and children volunteers.

Several teachers and their families, as well as Principal Ralph Pesapane, stayed right up until the end of the event to join in the fun.

Bananas the Clown was there walking on his stilts throughout the event. The Mad Hatters were busy creating hats, animals, and even backpacks out of balloons. There were many carnival games, face painting and tattoos, bingo, music and dancing.

The children each received a necklace with a card on it where they placed stickers they collected from playing games. When they accumulated a certain amount of stickers, they could select a prize. Colorful slap bracelets and Chinese erasers were the most popular choices.

Most of the activity took place in the gym and main corridor, and there were a few classrooms with organized games. The excitement of the event filled the room with tremendous spirit for the school.

Second grader Maeve Clow, 6, summed up the evening perfectly.

"My school rocks!" she said.
