The Montessori Children's Academy celebrates International Day of Peace

In today’s world, "peace" needs to become more than just another word.  On Friday September 21, 2012, The Montessori Children's Academy of Chatham will celebrate International Day of Peace with the children's handmade Montessori Flags, which will be displayed on the grounds of our school.  At MCA, we spend a great deal of time discussing what peace means, as well as reading books which help reinforce Peace Education, which is an underlying concept of the Montessori Method.  Maria Montessori was a huge advocate for peace and because of her work, she was nominated  for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1949, 1950, and 1951.  We at MCA, along with Montessorians worldwide, believe that peace resides in the hearts of children.  On September 21st, keep an eye out for the hundreds of flags across our campus, as our children do their part to help spread peace throughout the country and the world!
" Establishing lasting peace is the work of education; all politics can do is keep us out of war." ~ Maria Montessori
