"Raising Cain" co-author, Michael Thompson, will speak at Southern Blvd School on April 28th

Thompson is a psychologist, school consultant, and author or co-author of eight books, including the New York Times bestseller, "Raising Cain: Protecting the Emotional Life of Boys," "Speaking of Boys: Answers to the Most-Asked Questions about Raising Sons" and "Best Friends, Worst Enemies: Understanding the Social Lives of Children." His newest book, "It's a Boy!: Understanding Your Son's Development from Birth to Eighteen was released in March of 2010.

A dedicated speaker and traveler, Dr. Thompson has spoken at or consulted to more than 500 schools in the U.S. and abroad. He has appeared on the Today Show, the Oprah Winfrey Show, ABC 20/20 and CBS 60 Minutes. He was the co-author, host and narrator of a two-hour PBS documentary entitled "Raising Cain: Focus on Boys" which aired in January of 2006.

The heart of Dr. Thompson's work is lecturing to parents, teachers and students about the development of boys, the social lives of both boys and girls, the parent-teacher dynamic, school culture, how to raise responsible children, and the psychological journey of children through school.

He travels about eighty days per year to make keynote presentations at conferences, to run professional development days for teachers, to consult to schools or to speak to parents.
