History of Timekeeping Program at Senior Center

John Reardon—author, lecturer, and specialist in vintage and modern watches and clocks—will be speaking at the Senior Center of the Chathams on July 13 at 12:30pm on "The History of Timekeeping." The Chatham resident discusses the history of the watch and how humanity developed the concept to the time that we all take for granted.

Reardon has worked for Sotheby's and Patek Philippe and lectured around the world on the history of timekeeping. He authored "Patek Philippe in America: Marketing the World's Foremost Watch" which explores the history of Patek Philippe and highlights many of the most important watches, technical innovations, and U.S. retailers of the 19th and 20th century. Many of the most famous American Patek Philippe owners and collectors are revealed including Joe DiMaggio, Duke Ellington, Walt Disney, Bing Crosby, and John F. Kennedy. His second book "Patek Philippe in America Reference Guide" will be released this summer.

All are invited to attend the free lecture and are asked to call the Senior Center at 973-635-4565 to register. Attendees are encouraged to come in early to enjoy a treat from the "Soda Shop." Door-to-door bus service is available to Chatham senior residents.
