Chatham Resident Henry Rinder to Speak at Bergen Community College

Henry Rinder, Member of the Firm at Smolin Lupin in Fairfield, will be a featured speaker at an upcoming seminar of the New Jersey Society of Certified Professional Accountants.

The program, taking place Thursday, May 12 at Bergen Community College in Paramus, is titled “Fraud/Accounting and Auditing Update.”

Rinder, a resident of Chatham, NJ, is a certified public accountant with more than 25 years of professional experience in audit, accounting and tax services, forensic accounting, litigation support and business valuations.

Much of Rinder’s work has been within the construction, distribution, and manufacturing industries. He has also served as a business consultant and advisor to clients involved in mergers and acquisitions, restructuring, and strategic planning.

Rinder will be running a 100-minute discussion called “Considering Fraud in Assurance Engagements.” He will review applicable professional standards; standard audit procedures; use of forensic techniques to obtain audit evidence; use of fraud detection specialists; identifying common financial frauds; embezzlements; abusive tax evasion; money laundering; insurance fraud; “smurfing,” bank fraud, investment related fraud and illegal offshore transactions.

Rinder will also be running a 100-minute discussion on “Accounting for Private Companies-Update.”  He will discuss the latest requirements regarding US GAAP for Private Companies; review FASB statement 167 on consolidations of Variable Interest Entities; review of disclosure rules for subsequent events and accounting rules for Uncertainty in Income Taxes.
