Despite Weather Delays, High School Construction Progressing

Parking lot to be finished by November, classroom conversion by January.

Construction at Chatham High School continues to progress, despite being delayed time and time again by unusual amounts of rain over the late summer and early autumn months, according to School District of the Chathams Business Administrator Peter Daquila.

Daquila reported at Monday night’s meeting that the school’s parking lot is expected to be completed within the next month. Already, 40 finished parking spots have already been turned over to the district.

“The entire lot is scheduled to be finished by the first week in November, and the spots will be made available to the district by Monday, Nov. 14,” Daquila said.

Other construction projects at the high school, including the conversion of office space into new classrooms, were also affected by the weather in recent months.

Despite this, these projects are also moving along, and are expected to be completed by Jan. 20, 2012. This is in the hope that the new classrooms are ready for the start of the second half of the school year on Jan. 26.
