Chris Calveley, the girls soccer coach, submitted the following report from the girls soccer game:

Chatham lost 2-1 in a hard fought game against a very strong Morris Catholic side on Wednesday. Morris Catholic took the lead midway through the first half, but Chatham stepped up the intensity and played some excellent soccer to level 1-1 when Lina Proskas through ball found Kate Murphy whose effort and hustle won the ball from the goalkeeper, and she finished neatly into the net.

Chatham continued to press the rest of the game, hitting the cross bar no less than three times, and the Morris Catholic goalkeeper was kept very busy. Morris Catholic struck the winner with 10 minutes
remaining, when a 20-yard shot flew into the corner of the Chatham net. Chatham kept the pressure on but could not find a way back into the game.

There were many positives to take from such a strong and spirited performance.

The Chatham Athletic Boosters next meet on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. in the Chatham High media center.
