Committee to Address Hillside Avenue Buildings

Buildings for salvaging and demolition are listed as a discussion item for Thursday night's meeting.

The is expected to discuss Thursday night the salvage and demolition of buildings on Hillside Avenue.

The committee purchased a parcel of land along Hillside Avenue known as the Averett property in 2011, with the plan to develop and preserve the land as open space for the public. Several existing buildings on the property will be demolished to make way for the committee's plans.

The property includes three buildings in a variety of conditions. The committee plans to "return [the area] to woodlands," according to Committee Member Bailey Brower Jr., and the buildings do not have anything they could sell second-hand.

The committee will also discuss how many liquor licenses are in town.
