Select Voices to Perform at Lincoln Center

11 students chosen to be in the All-State Chorus, and other news from the Chatham Music and Theater Boosters.

As part of the Tri-State Invitational High School Spring Concert, the Select Voices Choir performs at Lincoln Center Thursday. Tickets are available for $32 each from choir members and members of Chatham Voices, or from Dr. Barbara Klemp.

Eleven students from Chatham High were chosen to be part of the 2012-13 All-State Chorus, following a competitive audition which ended April 21. The students are:

  • Olivia Konteatis
  • Sara Mazzola
  • Megan Myers
  • Michael Nitting
  • Solana San Pietro

Performing groups from Chatham High and perform in area music festivals on May 18 and 24 at Six Flags Great Adventure and Dorney Park. The festivals are sponsored by both High Note Festivals and Trills and Thrills.

The Chatham High Choral Concert and Orchestra/Jazz Band concerts will be held on May 21 and 23. The concerts will be in the Chatham High auditorium at 7:30 p.m. 

Elementary and middle school choral and band spring concerts will take place throughout the end of May and into early June.

Great Performances

The Chatham High Select Choir performed several doo-wop songs, with special lyrics written for the occasion, for .

The brought approximately 75 performance groups from throughout the U.S. and Canada to Chatham High and in March and April. The festivals raised over $20,000 for the Chatham Music and Theater Boosters (CMTB), which will help cover travel costs for music students during the 2012-13 school year.

Honors Music students from Chatham High performed in their spring recital on April 11. A total of 16 soloists and accompanists performed challenging pieces. The honors program requires students to perform in a fall and spring recital, to complete two major projects during the year and to prepare for regional and all-state auditions.

The jazz band from Chatham Middle hosted "Jazz in the Middle" April 26. Seven middle school bands traveled to Chatham to perform for adjudication and in front of large audiences. The Joe Elefante Big Band ended the concert. Band Director Christie Spriggs organized the event, along with the CMTB.
