CHS Graduation to Move? Fyffe Says It's Possible
Weather cited as main reason for possible move.
The is looking into moving its high school graduation ceremony to a larger, more weather-friendly location, according to Interim Superintendent Dennis Fyffe on Monday night.
Fyffe stated that, if the board supports the idea, the ceremony could be moved to a different location as early as at the conclusion of this school year.
“We are actively pursuing the possibility of going off-site as soon as June,” said Fyffe.

Fyffe declared that the Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange and Mennen Arena in Morristown would be the most cost-effective options for the move, if it were to occur.
The weather, for as unpredictable as it tends to be in June, was cited as the main reason for the proposed switch.

“As a high school principal for many years, my least favorite day was to get up on graduation day and the weather forecast would say, as it always says, ‘hazy, hot, and humid with a chance of late-day thunderstorms.’ That’s what June is,” said Fyffe. “Basically, it would seem that, given the last couple of years with some of the issues related to graduation at both the high school and middle school, this is the right time to look into this.”
