Chatham Girl Rocks STEM Summer Course

Alexis Williams awarded a certificate for Excellence in Mechanical Engineering.

Alexis Williams is still breaking barriers.

Williams spent her summer attending the Femme 6 Program at NJIT, a summer course for girls who wish to go into engineering.

At the end of the course Williams was awarded a certificate for Excellence in Mechanical Engineering.

"I was so exited to represent Chatham once again and prove that girls can excel in the STEM field," the rising seventh-grade student said.

This is not the first time Williams had been recognized for her outstanding abilities. In 2012 she submitted an essay to the Breaking Barriers contest and won first place nationally. Sharon Robinson, daughter of Jackie Robinson, visited Lafayette Avenue School to personally give Williams the award.

Chatham Patch offers our congratulations to Williams on yet another fantastic accomplishment in her young life.
