BOE Incumbent Burgunder Cites Facilities as Concern

Al Burgunder has sat on the board since 2009 and is running unopposed for another three-year term.

Board of Education Member Albert "Al" Burgunder is running for a second three-year term on the board. He was first appointed to the board in February 2009 and ran unopposed in April of that year for his current position.

In his time on the board, Burgunder has been actively involved in tracking enrollment growth in the . He served as head of the Facilities Committee during the 2010-11 school year and was instrumental in planning and advocating for 's enlargement, which was completed earlier this year.

Burgunder also opposed the motion to consider moving school elections to November, .

Burgunder has two sons currently enrolled in the district, both at Chatham High. He has been a resident of Chatham for six years.

Burgunder earned his bachelors degree in engineering from Pennsylvania State University and his masters degree from Carnegie Mellon University. He currently works in business management at Prexair, Inc.

The deadline to return mail-in ballots is April 10, and voters can report to the Morris County Election Center for in-person voting between April 10 and 16. 

All polls will be open from 2 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17. Chatham Borough residents will vote at in the upper gym, and Chatham Township residents will vote at in the C gym.
