Academic Team's Third 'Challenge' Airs Tuesday

Turn on and tune in to watch Chatham High take on Marlboro.

The academic team's third round of competitions on MSG Varsity's "The Challenge" airs Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Fans of the team first saw five representatives 400-240. The team members traveled to New York City to tape the competition in November, in the midst of a heavy snow fall. The episode aired in December. 

In February, the team competed in Round 2 against Piscataway High School. The episode aired in March, and 430-305.

In the third and final round of regional championships, the Cougars will take on the academic team from Marlboro High School.

According to Stephen Fineman, one of two advisors for the academic team, Chatham is one of 12 remaining teams still competing on "The Challenge." Forty-eight teams started in the first round.

Cablevision's Seth Sylvan said the Cougars "are getting closer to making it into the tri-state championships," where they would compete against teams from Connecticut and New York. 

ive team members—seniors Michael Lovito, Parker Dixon, Julie Messing, Adam Rosenzweig and Joseph Slamm— from a tryout held in September. They answered questions in the style of "The Challenge" to show off their accuracy, recall abilities and speed in "buzzer reaction," according to a statement prepared by Fineman.
