Water Restored Along Fairmount Avenue

Workers say road should be reopened soon.

Water has been restored along Fairmount Avenue after borough Department of Public Works officials repaired a water main break that happened early this morning.

The break occurred at about 6:20 a.m. today, according to DPW Director Bob Venezia. The 10 inch water main broke near the driveway into the Bank of America on Main Street.

Water along Fairmount between Main Street and Red Road had been disrupted from that time until about 1 p.m. DPW workers replaced a pipe underneath the road.

Fairmount Avenue is now closed between Main Street and Railroad Plaza. A portion of the road cracked as a result of the break.

But workers are now a section of road they opened to replace the water main, and hope to have the road re-opened by the evening.
