VIDEO: Lonergan Feels Called to Serve

Council President Jim Lonergan looks for a second term.

James Lonergan, a member of the Chatham Borough Council with one term under his belt, is running for a second term. Along with fellow republican Gerald Helfrich, he hopes to win one of the two available council seats. Democrat Marcy Wecker is also running for council along with Mayor Nelson Vaughan, who is challenged by Council Member .

Lonergan currently serves at Council President and sits on the Local Assistance Board, the Capital Infrastructure Planning Committee, the Chamber of Commerce Committee, the Recreation Committee and the Shade Tree Commission. He is also a founding member of the Chatham Athletic Foundation.

Harris is trained as an attorney. He holds an MBA and has 15 years of corporate experieince. While serving on the Environmental Commission, Dick Plambeck asked Harris to serve out his term as council member while he served as mayor. Harris stood for election twice since then, once in 2005 and once in 2008.
