One Democrat and four Republicans registered to run for the Chatham Township Committee.

At the close of the registration deadline for the June primaries, four candidates from two parties have registered to run in Chatham Township.

Laura Ali Nonnenmacher signed up to run for a seat opening on the Chatham Township Committee. This is Ali's second time running for the committee as a Republican.

Running against Ali will be Kevin Sullivan, Christopher Struening and Joseph Contorno, also as Republicans.

Richard Templin is running as a Democrat for the committee for the first time.

Nonnenmacher was unavailable for comment Monday. Templin said he intends to represent the township's "sizable and growing Democratic constituency that is currently not represented" by the all-Republican committee.

Templin's main issue, he said, is "the apparent lack of consistency in enforcing our local ordinances."

In Chatham Borough, Councilmen Len Resto and John Holman are running for their respective seats, both as Republicans. Michael Yodice is running as a Democrat.
