Township Committee to Vote on Road Improvement Contract

The committee meets Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

The Chatham Township Committee will vote Thursday on whether to award a contract for road improvements to Mt. Vernon Avenue and River Road.

Five bids were received for the improvements to the roads. The lowest bidder was Top Line Construction Corp. of Somerville at a total of $561,667.08.

By state law, contracts must be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder.

A detailed resolution outlining the improvements was unavailable Thursday morning. According to the list of bidders, the project includes a total base bid and an optional supplement, and the price of the total package.

The committee will also vote on whether they should stay with the Morris County Municipal Joint Insurance Fund (JIF) for another three years, effective Jan. 1, 2012 through Jan. 1, 2015.
