Regular Trash Bags OK in Chatham Amid 'Supply Issue'

More marked, green trash bags from B&B Disposals due in coming weeks.

A shortage of the marked, green garbage bags in which Chatham Borough residents are required to place their trash means it's OK to use regular bags in the borough until new shipments come in.

Kings Market, Village Hardware and Dreyer’s Lumber are among the local stores that carry them, the borough's website says, but they haven't been able to get the 30-gallon bags because of a "supply issue."

"You can use regular unmarked bags in the interim," the borough said in an alert. "If convenient please purchase 15 gallon bags and tie them to your 30 gallon unmarked bag. If you have questions call 877-465-4433 or visit www.chathamborough.org."

A letter to residents from B&B Disposals LLC posted on Chatham's website apologizes for any inconvenience.

"We are due to receive shipment between 1st and 2nd week of September and once we receive they will be made available immediately to you," the letter says. "For the time being, B&B Disposals will be honoring your regular household 30 gallon garbage bags."
