Police Report Car Accidents at Red Rd. & Fairmount Ave.

A third motor vehicle accident was also reported.

Chatham Borough police reported three accidents involving motor vehicles in the past week, including two at the intersection of Fairmount Avenue and Red Road.

Skateboard vs. Car

On Friday, May 6, at approximately 4:53 p.m., Borough Patrolman Roy George responded to an accident at the intersection of Fairmount Avenue and Red Road, police said.

His investigation revealed that a 1977 Oldsmobile driven by Thomas Ercolano, Jr., 61, of Chatham was turning left onto Red Road, police said. At the same time a 16-year-old boy on a skateboard heading north on Fairmount Avenue when he lost control and struck the car, according to police.

There were no injuries reported and no summonses were issued, police said.

Improper Passing

On Monday, May 9 at approximately 10:47 a.m., Borough Ptlm. Jeffrey Battiloro responded to Fairmount Avenue near Red Road on report of a motor vehicle accident, police said.

According to police, Battiloro's investigation revealed that David Tucker, 50, of Madison was driving north on Fairmount Avenue when he attempted to pass another vehicle, police said.

Tucker struck a 2005 Jeep driven by Susan Davis, 28, of Chatham Township, who told police that she was slowing down to yield to an ambulance traveling in the opposite direction when Tucker's car hit hers, according to police.

There were no injuries reported, police said, and Tucker was issued a summons for improper passing.

Car Accident at Lafayette Avenue and Kings Road

On Monday at approximately 3:09 p.m., Borough Ptlm. Daniel Walsh responded to an accident at the intersection of Lafayette Avenue and Kings Road.

His investigation revealed at a 17-year-old male from Florham Park had attempted to pull out of the driveway of the TD Bank and cross Lafayette Avenue to Kings Road, police said.

The car was struck by a 2010 Nissan driven by Joel Kampf, 73, of Chatham Township, according to police, and a passenger in Kampf's vehicle reported leg pain.

Police said no summonses were issued and both cars were driven from the scene.
