Plenty of Revenue at Colony Pool This Year

Township relatively close to what it made all of last summer at the pool.

The township is coming close to matching what it made at Colony Pool all of last year, according to Township Administrator Thomas Ciccarone.

Ciccarone discussed the matter at a Township Committee meeting Thursday.

Last year, he said, the pool brought in about $191,000. This year it's already brought in abouve $168,000, and Ciccarone said it will hopefully surpass last year's number.

"We're well on track to do that," he said. "I remain cautiously optimistic."

If it remains hot, he said, the township will likely get additional customers. Last summer was relatively cold, but the weather this year is much more promising.

He also said the township Department of Public Works did a good job getting the site ready in advance of the pool season.

It placed clean sand in the area, painted some spots, cleaned the facility and removed some trees to allow for the swimming area to get more sun than it had been getting.

"(There are) a lot of reasons people should come out and enjoy what is a great community facility," he said.

There has also been a small issue at the pool regarding tennis court use.

Essentially, two courts at the area are open to all residents, not just to Colony Pool members. But there have been some issues regarding that—but Ciccarone said the issues have been resolved.

Anyone, he said, can use the court, and can also bring a private coach with them as well if they so desire.

"It shouldn't make a difference whether I show up with (champion tennis player) John McEnroe ... or show up with (Committee Member) Bill O'Connor," Ciccarone quipped.
