NJ Spotlight: 2012 Primary Voter Guide

NJ Spotlight's interactive guide puts 18 races and 61 contests at your fingertips.

Both major parties' presidential nominees may be decided, but there are still a dozen high-profile battles around the state of New Jersey — including the crowded Republican U.S. Senate field — to draw voters to the polls on Tuesday, June 5.

With just a week to go, we present NJ Spotlight's 2012 Voter Guide, where voters can learn more about the candidates for U.S. Senate and Congress and their positions on key issues. The guide, however, does not cover contests for local municipal government seats.

U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez is unopposed for the Democratic nomination. Four Republicans are seeking their party's nod to challenge in November, including State Sen. Joseph Kyrillos, inventor David-Douglas Brown, Bader G. Qarmout and Joe "Rudy" Rullo.

In the Congressional race, Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen is unopposed for the Republican primary. Democrat John Arvanites is also unopposed.

, which sits in the 21st legislative district in New Jersey, and , which is part of the 27th district, do not have any races at the state level.

At the county level, nine Republicans are seeking nomination for three of the Freeholder board's seven available seats, with only one incumbent running. The candidates are:

  • William Chedwidden, currently the Freeholder director, seeking a third term
  • John Cesaro
  • David Scapicchio
  • John Krickus
  • Ted Hussa
  • Jeremy Jedynak
  • Charles Germershausen
  • Alison Deeb
  • Ed France

Freeholder Gene Feyl's name remains on the ballot, but he has dropped out of the race. William "Hank" Lyon is running unopposed for one two-year seat on the board.

The following three Democrats are running unopposed for the Morris County Board of Freeholders:

  • Wasim Kahn
  • Joy Singh
  • Toshiba Foster
