Sitting Councilmen Len Resto and John Holman were elected to serve second terms representing the residents of Chatham Borough Tuesday.
Resto said he was "honored to be once again serve the people of Chatham." He earned the most votes out of the three candidates, winning 2,641 votes total.
Councilman John Holman, who earned 2,602 votes Tuesday, said he hardly paid attention to the local election during the day. Instead, he said, he was focused on trying to get power restored to his neighborhood.
"I spent the afternoon riding around with Officer Robert Sweetin as the houses came back on," Holman said.
As of Tuesday evening, power was restored to several homes in Holman's neighborhood—but not yet to his own home.
Two seats on the council were available in Tuesday's election. Democrat Michael Yodice hoped to earn one of them, but finished in third place with 1,771 votes.
A debate between the three candidates was scheduled for Monday, Oct. 29, but was canceled due to Tropical Storm Sandy.
