Former Gov. Jim Florio to Speak at DSCC Breakfast Fundraiser

Jim Florio, former governor of New Jersey, will be the speaker at this year's breakfast to fund a scholarship to be awarded to a graduating senior from Chatham.  The breakfast will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Charlie Brown's on Southern Boulevard in Chatham. Gov. Florio will talk about the changing economy in New Jersey.

Each year, the Democratic Scholarship Committee of the Chathams (DSCC) awards a scholarship based on a 500 word essay on a topic relating to the democratic process.  This will be the fourth annual scholarship to be awarded by Chatham's Democrats.  In previous years, scholarships were awarded to:

* Allison Ranshous, a 2008 graduate of Chatham High School, now attending Swarthmore College ($1,000 scholarship)
* Paul Salierno, a 2007 graduate of Chatham High School who is now attending Franklin and Marshall College ($500 scholarship)
* Anthony Reel, a 2008 CHS graduate who is attending Miami University ($500 scholarship).
