Council to Vote on Extending Recycling Contract

The single-stream recycling contract has two 1-year options available.

The Chatham Borough Council will vote Monday on a resolution to exercise a 1-year extension option for their contract with Waste Management, the vendor which manages recycling in the borough.

The borough switched vendors for 2011 so residents could use single stream recycling and no longer sort their recyclables. All papers, newspapers, cardboards, plastics Nos. 1 through 7, magazines and aluminum and steel cans can be placed into a single bin.

The contract with Waste Management extends only through 2011, but there are two 1-year options for the contract to continue through 2012 and 2013.
