Borough to Vote on Engineering Improvements

Fourth of July festivities and recycling grant application also on agenda for Monday meeting.

The Council will vote Monday night on several engineering projects, from drainage improvements on Hillside Avenue to changes for road resurfacing programs.

Vincent J. DeNave, the engineer for Chatham Borough, made the recommendations to the council for the projects.

The first item is a change order for the contract with Z Tech Contractors for the improvements to . Under the change order, Z Tech will install landscaping improvements along the park, add a new tile lane in the adult pool and replace the steel door in the utility room.

The cost will be $11,333.02, in addition to the .

DeNave recommended another change order for the 2011 Road Resurfacing program to account for the increase in asphalt prices. The original contract included $225,000 for asphalt, and, according to DeNave, now needs an additional $4,837.44.

The council will also vote on two resolutions approving the traditional parade for the on the Fourth of July. A fireworks show will follow the parade. A rain date is not specified in the resolutions.

The council will also vote on a resolution endorsing a recycling tonnage grant application for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The grant, if approved by the DEP, will help the borough earn funds based on how much residents participate in the .
