Construction to Close Rt. 80 Ramp in Parsippany for Months

Rt. 202 entrance to interstate highway will be shut down, forcing major detours and massive headaches.

The first two to three months of spring are not going to be pleasant for motorists who use a heavily traveled section of Parsippany.

According to Parsippany Police, the Rt. 202 (Littleton Road) northbound ramp to Rt. 80 east will be shutdown for six to 12 weeks, beginning March 28.

The purpose of the closure is the construction of an entirely new on ramp to the interstate highway. Because of this, there will be no direct access to Rt. 80 from Rt. 202.

The ramp is located at the intersection of Frontage Road and Marmora Road. Frontage Road will remain open to local traffic, but very heavy delays are expected on Rt. 202 between Rt. 10, Parsippany Boulevard, and Cherry Hill Road between Rt. 46 and Rt. 202.

Parsippany Police said the best route to access Rt. 80 in either direction would be from Rt. 287. Motorists traveling to and from the Mack-Cali campus located near Rt. 202 – Sylvan Way, Campus Drive, Century Drive, Hilton Court, Dryden Way, and Entin Road – should travel on Dryden Way to Rt. 10 East to Rt. 287 north to access Rt. 80 in either direction.

“Please, begin to use alternate routes of travel to access Rt. 80 at this time avoiding Rt. 202 in order to get comfortable with your new commute before the ramp is closed,” Chief Paul Philipps said.

The timetable of six to 12 weeks on the closure is weather permitting.

Only in this state will it take so long to complete such a short span. Ridiculous never ending construction.

This entire construction project has been a total F*** mission.

It's amazing they pick and choose how long a project takes. When 287 collapsed due to the river flooding, it was fixed in miracle time. The entire construction project around rt 80 and 287 has been going on for years. Instead of splitting up your resources on 82 different projects, put them all in one place and get it done already. Or, hire some damn people - plenty of people looking for work. I see more guys standing around doing jack @@@@ than working half of the time.

DOT and our "leaders" just don't care how difficult it is to get from one side of Parsippany to another. Thanks for making horrific traveling even worse !!! Change at the polls will get there attention !!!
