Chatham Shell Station to Remain Closed to Residents
Borough police said the borough needs to reserve fuel for emergency vehicles and utility cars.
Kevin O'Shea of the Chatham Borough Police Department released a statement asking for continued patience from borough residents whose cars are running low on gas.
According to the statement, the owner of the Shell station at Main Street and Minton Avenue offered to fuel emergency vehicles at a financial loss to make sure first responders would be able to move around town.
"We regret that we are unable to open the gasoline station to a wider audience," the statement reads in part. "However, we must ensire that emergency crews, especially JCP&L, out-of-state utility crews and tree services can continue with their work."

The only vehicles that will be able to fill up at that station are:
- JCP&L utility trucks
- out-of-state utility trucks
- vehicles of DPW employees and first responders, including emergency squad members, so they can report for duty.

Any homeowners who need electrical work in their home must ensure the work is done by a licensed New Jersey electrician. The required building and construction permits cna be picked up and filed at the Chatham Borough Municipal Building.
By direct order of the governor, Halloween celebrations will take place on Monday, Nov. 5.
Sign-up lists for car pooling from Chatham to New York City can be found at St. Paul's Church, Ogden Memorial Church, the Madison YMCA and the Chatham Borough Fire Department.
Curbside brush collection will begin Monday. Limbs should not be larger than four inches in diameter. No brown or plastic bags will be picked up at that time.

The Recycling Depot will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.
Bulk pickup will be on Nov. 8 and 9.
The mulch site will be open from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Monday to Friday.
The Farmers Market will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
