Chatham Disposal to Collect Township Trees

Residents should have their trees on the curb by Saturday morning.

residents don't have to cart their Christmas trees down to the Tanglewood Recycling Center.

Chatham Township will collect Christmas trees left at the curb from township residences on Saturday.

Township residents also recently started single-stream recycling through the Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority (MUA). Glass, paper, cans and plastics Nos. 1 through 7, except for 3 and 6, may be placed in the same container for recycling.

The MUA requires all items to be loose (so don't tie those newspapers together anymore.) Also, cardboard boxes must be flattened.

The MUA collects recycling every other Friday, except for the Friday after Thanksgiving. Recycling and mulch materials, including Christmas trees, can also be brought to the Tanglewood Recycling Center on Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon.

Obeying the Recycling Law

  • computers
  • keyboards and mice
  • tablet computers, such as iPads or Kindles
  • scanners
  • main frames
  • VHS and/or DVD players
  • speakers
  • wires
  • televisions
  • printers
  • monitors
  • fax machines
  • stereos
  • telecommunications equipment

All Chatham residents are invited to bring their old electronics to the Chatham Borough Recycling Center at 90 Summit Ave. from 9 a.m. to noon.

Isn't township recycling every other Friday or has that changed?
Chatham Township Environmental Commission January 13, 2012 at 03:30 PM
Hello from the Chatham Township Environmental Commission ( ctec@chathamtownship.org ) We will contact Chatham Patch about this, and copy the Chat Twp Recycling Coordinator, but in the meantime please note: Yes, Ken D is correct -- Chatham TOWNSHIP is NOT every Friday. The Twp contracted with "MCMUA Recycling" to do curbside recycling pick up approx* every other Friday (we list the dates at the end of this comment). Dates and other details about the NEW Chat Twp Recycling Program are in the Chatham Township Annual Recycling Information Brochure--the 2012 edition is on line at http://www.chathamtownship.org/recycling_schedule.html The Twp is right now in the process of beginning to mail out a hard copy of the brochure (via US Postal Service) to all applicable Chat Twp residents and entities. For your convenience, we (CTEC) list here, below, the curbside recycle pick up dates for TWP, for 2012. BTW, if you'd like to be the first resident to see our new video--all about the NEW Chat Twp Recycling Program ("Single Stream" / "All In One") -- then send us an email requesting such and we will send you the link. ctec@chathamtownship.org 2012 Dates for Chatham TOWNSHIP Curbside Recycles Pick Up: January 6, 20 February 3, 17 March 2, 16, 30 April 13, 27 May 11, 25 June 8, 22 July 6, 20 August 3, 17, 31 September 14, 28 October 12, 26 November 9 (NOTE: there is NO collection on the day after Thanksgiving 11/23) December 7, 21
