Chatham Borough 2013 Primary Election Guide

Where to vote, who you can vote for.

Tuesday, June 4 is Primary Day throughout New Jersey. Before you head to the polls, here are some things Chatham Borough residents should know:

Where are the contested elections?

Locally there are no contested elections. Only two candidates, James Collander and Victoria Fife, filed to run in the primary. Both are Republicans and both are incumbent members of the Chatham Borough Council. Democrat Michael Yodice is running as a write-in candidate.

Residents can vote for up to two candidates, with the option to write in names. The term is for three years.

For Republicans, Lawrence Casha is running unopposed for a slot on the State Committee. Christina Ramirez and Catherine McCulloch are running against each other for the State Committee, with only one seat available. State Committee seats are held for four years.

The Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders has three seats opening this fall. Five Republicans are running: Doug Cabana, Tom Mastrangelo, Kathy DeFillippo, Stephen DeHart and Barbara Eames are each running. Freeholders are elected for three-year terms.

Five Republicans are running for the Morris County Clerk's position, an elected term of five yeas. The candidates are Michael Sachelli, Ann F. Grossi, Laurie Bogaard, Zbigniew Nowacki and James J. Vigilante.

Incumbent Sheriff Edward V. Rochford is running for another five-year term as sheriff. He is unopposed in this primary.

For the state's General Assembly representing the 21st legislative district, incumbents Jon Bramnick and Nancy Munoz are running unopposed for two-year terms. Thomas Kean, Jr. is running for another four-year term in the state Senate.

Seth Grossman and Chris Christie are running for governor on the Republican ticket.

What about Borough Democrats?

Troy Webster and Barbara Buono are running for governor on the Democratic tickets. Borough Democrats can vote for one candidate.

Michael Komondy is running for the state Senate unopposed this primary.

Norman W. Albert and Jill Anne Lazare are running for the two available seats in the state's General Assembly.

Mark Dombrowski put forth a bid to become the county's new sheriff. He is unopposed in this primary on the Democratic ticket.

Terry O'Connor Redwine is running for a five-year term as the Morris County Clerk.

Roger L. Holman, Donald Cresitello, Thomas J. Moran and Mark H. Stein are running for three available seats on the Morris County Board of Freeholders. Each seat holds a three-year term.

Shawn Laurenti-DeFazio, Truscha Quatrone and Claudia Salomon are running for three available seats as members of the State Committee.

When can I vote?

Polls throughout the state will be open between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Where can I vote?

The borough's registered voters can vote at the following locations, according to their districts:

  • District 1 and 3 residents vote in the gym at Milton Avenue Elementary, 16 Milton Ave.
    District 2 residents vote in the meeting room at the Chatham Borough Firehouse, 1 Firehouse Plaza
  • District 4 and 9 residents vote in the main room at Chatham United Methodist Church, 460 Main St.
  • District 5 and 7 residents vote in the gym at Washington Avenue Elementary, 102 Washington Ave.
  • District 6 and 8 residents vote in the gym at the ECLC School, 21 Lum Ave.
