Cell Antennas Hearing Postponed

Testimony expected to continue at later date.

A hearing on an application to install antennas on the side of a water tank in a residential section of Chatham Township has been postponed.

The township zoning board was expected to continue hearing testimony on the application by AT&T at its Thursday night meeting, but the hearing was canceled and is expected to be rescheduled for a later meeting, according to the township land use office.

AT&T says it is working to improve reception in the area, and always aims to install antennas on existing structures instead of building new ones.

Neighbors say the antennas would hurt property values and don't belong where residents, including children, live within a few hundred feet. Residents have asked the company to outline possible other locations for the antennas.
