Cell Antennas Hearing on Zoning Board Agenda

Testimony on AT&T's controversial plan scheduled to continue Thursday.

A hearing on an application by AT&T to install antennas on the sides of a water tank in a residential section of Chatham Township is among the items on the agenda for Thursday night's zoning board meeting.

A radio frequency engineer has said AT&T is working to improve reception in the area, including along River Road, and always aims to install antennas on existing structures instead of building new ones. The antenna panels would not go above the existing height of the water tank.

Neighbors say the antennas would hurt property values and don't belong where residents, including children, live within a few hundred feet.

The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the municipal building, 58 Meyersville Road.

Correction: An earlier version of this post gave an incorrect day for the meeting.
