Borough, Township Each Lose About 23 Percent in State Aid

The state released the numbers this afternoon.

The borough will see a 23.7 percent reduction in its state aid this year, while the township will see a 22.4 percent decrease, according to numbers released by the state this afternoon.

Borough and township mayors Nelson Vaughan and Nicole Hagner said this afternoon they had not yet had time to go through the numbers, and said they would reserve their specific comments on them until tomorrow morning.

"We sort of expected to lose that anyway," said Vaughan, when informed of the cut. "It is what it is."

Hagner said she had anticipated the numbers would not be pretty.

Last year, the township received $1,077,414 in aid, and this year it will get $836,483. The borough received $746,649 in 2009 and will get $569,796 in 2010.
