Borough Hall Will Close Tomorrow

Township has not yet made a decision; storm will arrive tonight.

Borough Hall will be closed Wednesday and all borough-related activities will be canceled as a major winter storm creeps closer to the area.

Borough Mayor Nelson Vaughan made the decision to close the borough's offices just after noon today. An Environmental Commission meeting on open space had been scheduled.

That meeting has been rescheduled for March 10.

The township has not made a decision on what it will do Wednesday. Township officials said this afternoon they would wait and see how much snow fell in the morning before determining whether or not to open.

There is also no word on whether schools will be out.

The latest National Weather Service forecast indicates one to three inches could fall on Chatham tonight. An additional seven to 11 inches is expected to accumulate Wednesday.

Vaughan also warned residents to not leave their cars on the streets at the beginning of the storm when Department of Public Works plows begin removing the snow. Cars that do so will be ticketed.

He said police may follow some plows to ensure no cars are parked on the street during the storm.
