Borough Council To Discuss Business Improvement District, Pool Survey at Meeting

Meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The borough council will discuss two initiatives at a meeting tonight that Mayor Nelson Vaughan mentioned in his State of the Borough address earlier this month.

It will first discuss a Business Improvement District, which Vaughan said during his address will "work as a public/private partnership with the Chamber of Commerce to help businesses increase their profits and Chatham's attractiveness."

The Business Improvement Advisory Committee has already drafted an ordinance that allows it to create the district.

In such a district, businesses within a defined boundary pay a fee that goes toward improvements within the district's boundaries, such as beautifying the area or marketing businesses inside the boundaries.

The council will also discuss results of a survey it administered to all borough residents regarding improvements to the borough's municipal pool in Memorial Park.

Every borough resident was sent the survey, which asked them their opinion on a variety of issues. The borough is considering renovations to the pool.

The survey was due back at Borough Hall last Monday.

The meeting tonight begins at 7:30 p.m., and the full agenda can be found here on the borough's Web site.
