Woman Resists Arrest, Then Person Who Comes to Post Bail is Also Arrested

The two both had active warrants issued for them by different municipalities.

A woman was arrested in the borough after she refused to come out of her vehicle to be arrested, according to borough police, and a person who came to post bail for her was later arrested as well.

Police said Jennifer Okorie, 32, of Highland Lakes, was driving through the borough on Monday when a random license plate check indicated the owner of the vehicle had a suspended license and an active warrant. After completing the identification procedure, police said, they pulled her over and informed her of the status of her license and of the warrant, which was issued aby the municipality of Clark.

Police said Okorie refused to exit her vehicle and had to be physically taken into custody. She was transported to police headquarters and charged with resisting arrest.

Okorie was not the only one to be taken into custody in connection with the incident, according to police. Police said when Joas Atis, 42, of Old Bridge, came into police headquarters to the post the $81 in bail for Okorie, a customary check uncovered a warrant for him issued by the municipality of East Orange.

Atis was taken into custody, police said. He posted bail for both of them in the amount of $581, according to police, and the two were released.
