Water Line Break Closes Intersection

Work at Washington Avenue and Front Street closed roads near train station.

An intersection near the Chatham Train Station was closed to traffic Saturday while crews worked to fix a broken water service line, police said.

Much of the intersection at Washington Avenue and Front Street was dug up to make the repair, Chatham Police Sgt. Daryle Kelly said.

Washington Avenue was closed between Main Street and Walnut Street, and Front Street was closed between Washington Avenue and Lum Avenue.

The Department of Public Works was expected to be working on the repair until at least early Saturday evening, Kelly said.
