Water Company Strikes Gas Line, Causes Leak

Connection to Meyersville Road home damaged.

The responded to a call about a struck gas line Friday morning on Meyersville Road, the department's chief said.

Fire Chief Jim Pignatello Jr. said New Jersey American Water was digging at Meyersville Road near Fairmount Avenue and struck a gas line to a home there.

Firefighters responded around 9:20 a.m. and made sure no gas was leaking into any nearby homes, Pignatello said.

PSE&G released the department from the scene once the utility company isolated the leak, he said.

PSE&G said the plastic service line was repaired at 10:40 a.m. and there were no evacuations.
