Two Accidents Occur Within Five Minutes of One Another in Kings Road Area

The car crashes happened Monday.

Two car accidents happened within five minutes of each other in the Kings Road area Monday, according to borough police.

Police said Summit resident Christine Schleimer failed to yield the right of way when her vehicle collided with another while she was attempting to make a left on to Kings Road from Lafayette Avenue at 5:15 p.m. Monday. Schleimer's car collided with a car driven by Basking Ridge resident Allison Helwig, who was heading south on Lafayette Avenue.

Schleimer had been heading north on Lafayette. No injuries were reported, and Schleimer's car was towed away. The borough Fire Department assisted in the matter.

At 5:20 p.m. Monday, police said, a car driven by Summit resident Jeremy Bunyaner rear-ended a car driven by Chatham resident Nicole Schmidt while it was stopped in traffic. Police said Bunyaner told them he had looked down at his iPod and when he looked back up, traffic in front of him had stopped.

No injuries were reported and Bunyaner's car was towed from the scene. He was issued a summons for careless driving.
