Chatham Borough Police issued a summons Tuesday for careless driving after a truck struck the railroad overpass on Watchung Avenue, according to a statement.
Patrolman Andrew Chase responded to a motor vehicle accident at 2:30 p.m. at the railraod brudge on Watchung Avenue, police said.
Chase found that a box truck driven by Henry Nunez, 23, of Jersey City was traveling east on Watchung Avenue when it struck the bridge, police said.

The roof of the truck was torn off, according to police.
Nunez stated that he thought he had enough clearance to pass under the brdidge safely, police said.

Nunez was issued a summons for careless driving and released.
