Township Resident's Car Keyed, Damaged

Rent scam also attempted in township.

A 1998 Jeep SUV owned by a township resident was damaged overnight while it was parked in a driveway, according to township police.

Police said the incident was reported Friday. The car was "keyed" on the driver's side door and paint was damaged, according to police. It was parked in a driveway off of Sandy Hill Road.

Police also said there was a report in the township of an attempted rent scam. This attempt was unsucessful.

According to police, the scam uses information from legitimate listings to create ads for a rental property which they will "rent" at an attractive price.

Renters who then locate the ad, police said, are instructed to send in a deposit, and they are told keys will then be sent to them. Later on, the person who sent in the money generally finds out they have been scammed.
